The YMCA of San Diego County Welcomes Baron Herdelin-Doherty as New President and Chief Executive Officer
 The YMCA of San Diego County is pleased to announce the appointment of Baron Herdelin-Doherty as President and Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA of San Diego County effective October 4, 2010. “Following a thorough and national search process, Baron clearly stood out as a dynamic leader who has a proven track record in growing, managing, and leading a YMCA. Through his effort, the YMCA of San Diego County will continue to play a key role in strengthening the foundations of our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility,” said Robert D. Buell, Chair of the Board of Directors of the YMCA of San Diego County. Mr. Herdelin-Doherty has more than 26 years of YMCA executive experience spanning six different YMCA associations across the United States. Most recently, for the past seven years he has served as President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio. Prior to his leadership role in San Antonio, Mr. Herdelin-Doherty was Chief Operating Officer/Senior Vice President at the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region. His experience also includes serving as Group Vice President for the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. “We are proud to have such a distinguished and experienced YMCA leader join us in our continued commitment to providing quality and relevant programs for youth and families throughout San Diego County,” said Richard A. Collato, President and CEO of the YMCA of San Diego County for the past 29 years. Mr. Collato will retire on September 30, 2010. Mr. Herdelin-Doherty began his YMCA career after completing his Bachelor of Arts degree at Auburn University in Auburn, AL. Along with his YMCA responsibilities, he has been an active community leader and volunteer in each of the communities where he has lived. In his free time, Herdelin-Doherty enjoys spending time with his wife, Lisa, and their son, Ethan, who is entering Texas A&M University on a track scholarship this fall. Herdelin-Doherty loves the outdoors, and enjoys triathlons and participating in bicycle tours. |
